NEVADA LEGISLATURE

Sixty-ninth Session, 1997

ASSEMBLY DAILY JOURNAL
_______________

THE EIGHTY-FIFTH DAY
_______________

Carson City (Monday), April 14, 1997

Assembly called to order at 11:06 a.m.
Mr. Speaker presiding.
Roll called.
All present.
Prayer by the Chaplain, The Reverend Thomas D. Tostenson.
Our Father, on this day in 1865 an assassin's bullet brought about the death of the great president that gave this state, and this body, its birth. Yet his place in history was not hinged on this moment in time, but on his service to his fellow man. Lord teach us by his example that greatness is not found in money, nor power, nor titles, nor even long life, but in our character. That it is not found by causing our constituency to like us, but by causing ourselves to love and serve our constituency. Lead us and guide us Lord as You led and guided Lincoln in the century past, that by Your leading we may find the courage to love, and the courage to care. This we ask in the Name that is above all names.

Amen.

Pledge of allegiance to the Flag.

Assemblyman Perkins moved that further reading of the Journal be dispensed with, and the Speaker and Chief Clerk be authorized to make the necessary corrections and additions.
Motion carried.
